The Old Boys week at STC was a great success as usual .

The fairly well attended AGM was concluded on the 13th Feb Friday evening at the College Hall . A contest for the secretarial post was on with Jaminda Mendis and Udaya Guneratne . Udaya won it by 23 votes - a close tussle .

The Old Boys won the Cricket match in a rather closely contested game . For the Present Boys , HAT Fernando scored an elegant 50 and rescued the team after being 80 for 7 at one stage . For the Old Boys , past Capt Jehan Thahir scored a fifty . There were noteworthy contributions from a few players .

The Old Boys lunch hosted by College was well attended as always . The new lady Chaplain from England commenced the proceedings leading the Thomian fraternity into prayer . The energetic Acting Warden thanked all those who were present and thanked the outgoing Warden Dr Ponniah for his services .

He appreciated the work done by the EXCO , the OBA and thanked the College officials . The Dudley Senanayake Challenge Cup donated by Milinda Hettiarachchi in the year 2000 , was handed over to the winning skipper Nisal Fernando ( Old Boys ) amidst loud applause.

The usual speech making followed in the traditional way . Mr Edisrisinghe of the 1950s vintage expressed his happiness acknowledging the presence of a lady Chaplain for the first time at STC and thanked the Acting Warden for his valuable services which received a loud applause . Prabodha Kariyawasam assured the Thomian fraternity not to write off the talented Thomian team with 08 or more freshers this year . He thanked Messrs Ajit Jayasekera and Neil Chanmugam for the valuable service rendered on a volunteery basis and acknowledged the wealth of knowledge imparted by these two Thomian cricketers of National and International fame . PN ( Veddha ) Perera spoke about how he master minded the first Thomian band to enter the Colombo Oval in the 1950s , cleverly using the donation and the high office of some VIP Thomians .

The proceedings ended with the singing of the College Anthem , which vibrated Dining Room area and re-lived the Thomian Spirit .
